Job Description

An experienced HR Consultant is required for a 6 month contract working within an internationally recognised Investment Bank, based in the heart of the City.

To provide all HR related services to London based employees within Equities, FX and Rates, Global Trade Support, and Research. Liaise with Head Office and Global CIB HR team on a daily basis in relation to projects, common processes and procedures, approvals, headcount implementation, restructuring / upgrade targets.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:


The successful HR Consultant will provide day to day HR service to all employees and managers within the relevant client group, including any managers on a global level responsible for London employees;

Strategic advice to Department Managers regarding all HR-relevant decisions, in line with UK Employment Law, HR policies and procedures (local and global). e.g. recruitment, restructuring, business re-organisation, compensation and benefits, disciplinary procedures, grievances, pension funds, cost control, diversity, equal opportunities, etc.;

Annual salary reviews, performance appraisal process, salary surveys, retention plan, monitoring market trends, selection of providers, employee relations management, strategic headcount planning, special projects, mandatory training, court cases and legal issues , collective dismissal procedures, TUPE, upgrade of local HR procedures etc;

Assisting the Global HR Business Partner for Markets in carrying out strategic thinking, headcount allocation, strategic advice, monitoring global Group and external developments on a daily basis etc.;

Day to day HR support and administration, e.g. grievances, disciplinaries, maternity leave, paternity leave, sick leave, holiday entitlement, sabbatical, references, etc. Close collaboration with the rest of the HR Team.

Responsible for Headcount Reporting

In depth knowledge of HR practice and procedure, including sound understanding of UK employment law is essential for this role.

Qualifications/Training

CIPD part qualified / qualified or with other relevant degree

Previous Experience

Extensive practical experience of applying HR theories to a work place situation within a Blue Chip Banking or Finance environment.
