Trainee Logistics Clerk

Are you looking for a brand new career training in logistics and freight forwarding?
We are looking for a bright, outgoing school, university or college leaver who is looking for a fantastic, exciting career in the busy operations team of a Freight forwarder & Logistics company - this role is varied and no two days are the same!

My client is an established Freight Forwarder with depots at many of the major airports. They are one of the UK's leading logistics organisations, whose mission is to satisfy the International freight and supply chain needs of their clients. With almost 75 years of continuous trading, they offer fantastic progression opportunities and a chance to build a very lucrative career in the area of Airfreight, Sea Freight, Oceans, Aviation & Road freight services.

They currently have a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious graduate/ college/ school leaver to work at their Egham office as a Trainee Logistics Clerk. This role will offer a career path into the world of logistics, Import and Export and Freight Forwarding, where you will be given an opportunity to train on the job, and develop your skills and experience.

What you will learn:

  • You will manage goods moving in and out of a country. You will receive, monitor and process daily freight movements ensuring the correct paperwork is in place for shipments and their exporters.
  • You will also monitor freight throughout the export/ import process and report to a branch supervisor or manager. This role can be an excellent starting point for a career within Shipping and Logistics
  • Take calls from customers who are looking at moving shipments globally - taking down all the details of the request
  • Liaising with the Cargo departments at the airlines gaining quotations on the shipment
  • Managing all the documentation around the consignment
  • Raising airway bills and completing all customs entry documentation onto the online system called NES
  • Dealing with any customer queries and tracking the shipment to final delivery
  • All administration around the shipment
  • You will be working in a bright, buzzing office with a great team of people alongside other junior and more senior staff in the Operations teams.


This exciting role will suit someone who can demonstrate a keen interest and willingness to learn, together with an enthusiastic attitude. A good telephone manner, strong interpersonal skills and outstanding communication skills will be essential. You will not need previous experience, but must be IT literate, reliable and be able to get to Egham on a daily basis.
