Technical Sales Executive / Scientific Sales Executive / Junior Sales Executive, required for a company who are specialists in the sale of Scientific Equipment and Advanced Materials, working with and selling to Universities, Research Institutes, Design Engineers, Manufacturers, Academic & Commercial Research and Development Co’s, End Users and other similar types of customer.

 

Package: Basic salary £25, 000, OTE £28, 750 + uncapped bonus + car allowance)

 

Based in Tamworth Office with minimum five days UK travelling a month. Initially the role will mainly be Office based Internal Sales, however longer term the role will involve more Field sales including some overseas travel. Ideally you will be commutable distance to Tamworth and thus within circa 1 hours travel time.

Do you have experience in technical or scientific sales?  Want to work within the exciting and ever-changing world of scientific research?  Driven to learn and become an expert in your own product area?  Then this role could be for you!

 

Based in Tamworth, close to M42, we specialise in the sale of Scientific Equipment and Advanced Materials.  Due to continued year on year growth we're recruiting for an additional member of our Sales Team. We are a friendly team who are passionate about providing an excellent standard of customer service and developing new business.  Last year we were proud to be identified by the Department of International Trade as being a high growth SME for export.

 

As Technical Sales Executive / Scientific Sales Executive you will have commercial sales experience and a scientific or technical background.  You will take responsibility for a specific portfolio of research equipment including film coaters, ionographs and chucks. You will have the drive to seek out new business as well as maintain and develop our existing customer accounts. Based primarily at our Tamworth Office you will be expected to spend a minimum of five days a month visiting our UK customers and there will be opportunities in the future for overseas travel.

 

Candidates must have a minimum two years proven track record in technical or scientific sales, ideally with degree level education in Materials Science, Chemistry or an associated discipline.  This role may suit a recent graduate with the desire to use their knowledge within a sales environment. Or you may currently be in an Internal Sales role or a Sales Admin role and want to progress into a wider Sales role which will involve Internal Sales, Field Sales, Business Development, and UK / Overseas travel, longer term

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet agreed sales growth and gross profit targets.
  • Provide a quick and efficient response to customer enquiries.
  • Follow up on sales leads to ensure a high conversion rate in line with the company's KPI's.
  • Maintain and develop current relationships with existing customers and suppliers.
  • Provide after-sales support.
  • Present the Company to potential clients through direct communication, face to face meetings, trade and pop-up exhibitions, telephone and emails.
  • Work with our marketing department to identify applicable industry data and contact details from social media, published research and other web-based sources to generate new business.
  • Feedback on supplier activities and suggest new innovations for the Company product portfolio.
  • Work closely with all members of the Sales and Marketing team to ensure a cross flow of information.
  • Stay up to date with current research projects and trends.

 

Person Specification:

 

The ideal candidate will be a confident and ambitious individual who is committed to achieving high standards throughout their work.

 

The essential characteristics and skills required are:

 

  • Minimum of one years experience in scientific or technical sales.

 

  • Very confident on the telephone, talking with customers, making enquiries, building relationships, fact finding and follow up.

 

  • Attended customer sites and exhibitions.

 

  • Highly motivated, target-driven with a pro-active approach to workload.

 

  • Excellent attention to detail.

 

  • An enquiring mind and desire to stay up to date with current research and product developments.

 

  • Able to build relationships quickly and effectively to develop new contacts and support the existing customer base.

 

  • Knowledge and experience of using web-based marketing tools, Microsoft Office and CRM databases.

 

  • Full UK Driving licence and access to own vehicle -a car users allowance is payable.

 

  • A sound knowledge of chemical formulae as well as metric and imperial units of measurement.

 

The desirable characteristics and skills are:

 

  • Knowledge of Advanced Materials.

 

  • Educated to degree level in Materials Science/ Metallurgy/ Chemistry/ or a related discipline.

 

  • Telephone Sales experience / Internal Sales experience / Sales Admin experience
