The Company

My client is a leading independent marine consultancy and market research organisation that provides risk analysis to the marine, energy and subsea sectors with beautiful maintained offices with a sea view. They are now looking to appoint a SQL Administrator/ programmer to join their amazing team.

Role and Responsibilities

The SQL role is a varied role that will allow you to develop your knowledge regarding all aspects of SQL databases. The major task would be to restructure the current database solutions in a minimal 3rd form normalised their internal and external databases. You will be responsible for managing the storage, optimising and securing the information held within the relational database systems. You will also be testing, debugging and troubleshooting databases, and developing new databases in response to user needs or merging database information from older to newer systems. In addition;

• You will develop high-quality database solutions
• You will develop, implement and optimise current and new stored procedures and functions using T-SQL
• You will review and interpret ongoing business report requirements
• You will research current data structures
• You will build appropriate and useful reporting deliverables
• You will analyse existing SQL queries for performance improvements
• You will suggest and provide new views/functions/queries
• You will develop procedures and scripts for data migration
• You will provide timely scheduled management reporting
• You will investigate exceptions with regard to asset movements
• Analysing trends, helping you forecast the future and solving any problems you identify.
• You will develop and implement solutions for a wide range of internal and external planning and reporting challenges relating to company data
• You will be creating processes to extract and prepare data for quality reports and data management.
• You will manage multiple complex projects to deliver innovative solutions.


Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong general Extract, Transform, Load (ETL)/ data integration experience
• Excellent understanding of Microsoft SQL Server
• SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) experience
• Must have experience in SQL Server, T-SQL and stored procedures.
• Experience in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) and business intelligence / data warehouse technologies.
• Ability to troubleshoot/resolve complex database issues
• Strong customer service orientation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organisational skills.
