Invigorate Recruitment are assisting a local client in their need for a Specialist Support Team Leader, to work for a supported living service for adults with learning disabilities.
The successful candidate will provide local, needs-led, community based support for people with learning disabilities, and will ensure that the support team is competent and focused at all times.
As Specialist Support Team Leader would be expected to:
• Support tenants to participate in aspects of everyday life, even if they may create additional risks for others.
• Be a positive and proactive leader to the support team, with a friendly approach and new ideas.
• Accurately record the hours worked and annual leave of the support team.
• Assist the tenant, with the use of the Recruitment Process, to employ their support team and ensure that they have the sufficient support hours to meet their needs.
• Ensure the support team is competent and prepared to deliver active support.
• Make sure tenants participate in meaningful activity and relationships at home and in the community.
• Liaise with the Care Quality Commission and/or the Supporting People team, and any other relevant professional agency, to ensure compliance with their standards and requirements.
• Ensure that personalised care plans are established and implemented and that personal ambitions are considered and achieved.
• Support tenants to arrange meetings with GP’s, care workers etc when requested.
• Be responsible for the management of the on call rota for the service, and be available for consultation when on call.
• Provide competency based training and professional support, along with creative solutions to meet the changing needs of each tenant.
• Ensure the support team has a clear understanding of all company policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Support the team in performance management, where necessary.
• Ensure the continued safety of all tenants by following the Safeguarding procedures and adhering to all fire prevention and health and safety policies.
Skills and Experience:
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in working with Client group.
• Minimum of 1 years experience at a supervisory/management level.
• An appropriate Care & Management qualification.
• Full driving licence and car.
• Positive track record in progressive services.

• Ability to present self and organisation in a positive honest and respectful way.

• Good time management skills.
• Ability to delegate appropriately.
• Operational experience of budget control.
• Good presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Enthusiasm and drive.
• Self reliant and willingness to take ownership of tasks.
• Flexibility - prepared to adapt to role.
• Prepared to take calculated risks.
• Enthusiastic about working in small organisation.
• High tolerance threshold – not easily ruffled.
