About the role

This exciting role will suit individuals who enjoy managing and conducting quantitative analysis and report writing and wish to contribute to an enthusiastic and dedicated team of economists and social scientists. The work requires an excellent understanding of statistical techniques, applied economics and social science, including cost-benefit analysis, and offers the opportunity to contribute to important policy and social analysis. The post holder will receive significant on-the-job training and development, as well as opportunities to work with leading clients and universities to produce innovative and influential research. Responsibilities will depend on your prior experience and the position deemed suitable for you within the firm but are likely to include managing or conducting econometric/statistical analysis, survey design, and impact assessment; report and bid writing and presentations; and working with clients. Some domestic and international travel may be involved.

Candidate Requirements

Undergraduate degree in economics (or related quantitative discipline with material element in microeconomics or econometrics) at 2:1 or higher essential. Postgraduate degree in economics (or related quantitative discipline) desirable.
Excellent understanding of econometric/statistical methods and microeconomic theory and their application to social and policy issues, including knowledge of approaches to economic appraisal and evaluation (e.g. as set out in the HM Treasury Green Book).
Highly numerate and with a high level of competence and efficiency in statistical programming (preferably in Stata) and in Excel, with a strong track record in developing/implementing complex spreadsheet models.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and ability to work with others.
Ability to plan and manage your work so as to deliver efficiently, on time, and to the client’s or user’s requirements..
At least 3 years of professional experience working in a quantitative analysis role, preferably an evaluation role in a consultancy or the public or not-for-profit sector.
