The Risk Assistant will support the Risk Analyst, Credit Analyst, Internal Control Coordinator and Quality Assurance Analyst with their daily activities, focussing on the UK business activities.

Assessing the credit worthiness of business customers and approving credit applications, you will report on the trading activity of commodity traders and assess trades for accuracy based on externally reported price indexes. You must ensure the trading activity is within agreed thresholds and report any limit breaches. The Risk Assistant will also partner with the people throughout the business to create risk registers and contribute to monthly management reporting packs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to gain experience across a range of risk and internal control related disciplines and for someone who is looking to gain knowledge of the energy industry. Full training will be provided, and you’ll have great exposure across the breadth of UK operations including members of the operational and senior management teams. They can also offer you the potential to progress into one of the more specialised roles in the Risk team.

They are looking for a highly organised and methodical individual who is ideally educated to Degree level in a quantitative discipline. You’ll have proven ability to produce accurate work under tight deadlines, be receptive to change and have excellent process delivery/improvement skills. They’d like you to be approachable with the ability to provide excellent customer service, have strong problem solving skills and be able to work well as part of a team.

Our client is a leading energy and services group employing 20,000 people in the UK. They are using their energy and services capabilities to lead the UK’s transition towards a more secure and sustainable future, through a strategy based on investment in critical energy infrastructure, integration of its energy expertise with its broad services offer, and innovation in customer-led solutions and technologies. The business has well-established and diverse operations that span the exploration and production of gas and oil; on-shore gas storage; generating power as one of the UK’s largest independent power producers; providing power and gas to thousands of businesses; and delivering services to more than 14,000 customer sites across the public and private sector.
