JOB TITLE: Receptionist / Administrator

SALARY & BENEFITS: £20,623 plus 15% pension contribution and 25 days holiday per annum

WORKING HOURS: Full Time (35 hours per week Monday to Friday)

THE COMPANY & ROLE: Are you an organised person who has an excellent telephone manner and can handle sometimes high volumes of calls and enquiries? Our client are looking for a Receptionist / Administrator to join their team for the Diocesan Office and Old Alresford Place Conference Centre which is the home to the Diocesan Team – a group of around 50 staff who support the operations of the parishes, churches and ordained leadership of the Diocese of Winchester.

As well as housing the offices, Old Alresford Place is run as a small conference and training centre both for internal events and for external hirers.

As a Receptionist / Administrator, you will be acting as the first point of contact for visitors and hirers, and will be responding to general enquiries as well as managing bookings and events including advising on facilities, costs and services. This role would suit someone with excellent customer service and front of house skills and someone who has a confident telephone manner and welcoming and a friendly demeanour. The role may also require a wide range of admin tasks to support the team on an ad-hoc basis. 

The Diocese of Winchester is not only the people, churches and schools that make it up, but also an organisation that supports those communities and governs the Diocese.

Founded in 676AD it is one of the five senior dioceses of the Church of England. The Diocese consists of about two thirds of the County of Hampshire and most of Bournemouth in the County of Dorset, excluding Portsmouth and the area immediately to its north and north-east.

THE CANDIDATE: The successful Receptionist / Administrator must be a highly organised person with a polite and clear telephone manner. You will ideally have experience in a similar role and should be able to work well within what can be a reactive environment. You should have good IT skills, be comfortable working with basic Microsoft office applications such as Word, and sending emails, must be someone who can work well as part of a wider team . Candidates will need to live within adequate commutable distance to Alresford in Winchester, Hampshire and due to the rural location of the offices and lack of public transport, candidates will need to have their own transport. 

Key Experience/ Characteristics preferred for the Receptionist / Administrator role in Winchester, Hampshire :-

- Excellent customer service and front of house skills including a confident telephone manner and welcoming and friendly demeanour are essential
- Must be well organised and have good IT skills
- Experience in a similar role speaking on the phone is essential 
- Must be able to commute to Old Alresford in Winchester, Hampshire
