Project Manager- £65,000-£75,000- London

My client is one of the largest transport services organisations in Europe, employing more than 60,000 people and delivering more than 2.2 billion passenger journeys across 14 European countries every year. They have strong roots dating back to 1938, an ambitious growth agenda.

To achieve its ambitious growth agenda the firm has a unified and clearly defined strategy spanning its many and varied operating companies and countries.

Being part of one of the most important programmes within the business, the main purpose of the role will be to manage a large, complex projects, often cross-functional, international and transformational in nature.

Direct Responsibilities;

  • Manage the delivery of strategic projects to agreed time, budget, scope, and quality under the banner of the programme
  • Custodian of the design blueprint and responsible for developing and owning the implementation plan for business projects
  • Lead and coordinate (across 14 countries) those responsible for local adoption of the design blueprint, ensuring that there is continued buy in to the project deliverables and that local execution keeps pace with desired schedule for roll out
  • Manage all costs associated with project delivery and ensure that progress against benefits set out in the business case are tracked and realised
  • Identify, manage, and escalate risks to implementation and work with local operations to mitigate and minimise those risks
  • Control and manage changes to scope, schedule or costs associated with project delivery and ensure appropriate stakeholder engagement and endorsement.
  • Interface with the central PMO with oversight on this transformation to
    • Establish an assumption-based risk register for the implementation,
    • Manage the reporting on progress, costs and benefits realised,
    • Clarify changes to scope, risk profile, benefits to target, or dependencies
  • Report by exception to the relevant SteerCo
  • Manage change management or communications resource support as required.

Knowledge and Experience Required;

  • Experience in roles involving strong delivery of projects
  • Experience working in a multi-national organisations and appreciation of implications for change approach
  • Project management qualification or certification desirable, eg Prince II or Lean
  • Experience of project managing in a procurement function preferred but not essential
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills

Strong presentation (especially PowerPoint) development skills
