Innovation Project Manager £70,000-£80,000, London

The Innovation Team

This is a relatively new team which was founded in January 2018, this is a great opportunity for someone to become part of this thriving, growing team. The team is crucial going forward for the business so now has the engagement of critical stakeholders. The team has a global remit, with a primary focus on improving or enhancing the revenue generating activities undertaken.

Purpose of the role

This role will focus primarily on the delivery of innovation related technology projects; however, the success of the role will be measured through impact on the business, rather than implemented technology. A track record of having made meaningful business impact through project delivery is more important than a track record of delivering technically complex projects.

The role will have end to end responsibility for technology projects, from defining requirements, to software selection, to piloting, implementation and roll-out.

There will also be a need for the project manager to manage the development of proof of concepts and minimal viable products, as well as deliver business transformation projects that are not primarily technology focused.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct cross-discipline project teams to ensure timely delivery of projects facilitating business initiatives and maximising transformative impact of new technologies
  • Engage with client facing teams to understand their ways of working and challenges, to help identify and successfully implement solutions
  • Manage internal and external project communications to all levels of stakeholders both business and technical
  • Translate, document and prioritise business requirements into technical/software requirements
  • Creating business cases for investments
  • Lead software assessment and procurement processes
  • Create and manage project plans and documentation
  • Conduct project presentations and compile reports
  • Manage third parties and suppliers
  • Maximise project impact through quality of solution design, and through stakeholder management and user communication and engagement
  • Contribute to, or lead, work to design new ways of working and/or new structures to support the use of new technologies
  • Deliver technology and non-technology related projects
  • Pursue the drive for quality and continuous improvement in project delivery, technology and processes
  • Liaison with other business services teams to agree resource requirements

  • Ability to communicate to and influence lawyers of all levels of seniority
  • Excellent project and change management skills
  • Able to work under pressure and prioritise conflicting demands
  • Self-motivated with good organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
  • Aptitude for problem-solving
  • Professional, diplomatic and tactful especially when in pressured situations
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with both internal and external clients
  • The ability to communicate confidently and effectively at all levels
  • Ability to work effectively alone or as part of a team

Education and Experience

  • Degree level qualification (or equivalent experience) ideally in a technology related discipline
  • Previous legal experience is preferred
  • Experience of working in a professional services, financial services (or very similar) environment is essential
  • Experience of working in an innovation team and/or working on projects involving automation, data analytics or Artificial Intelligence would be advantageous
  • At least 5 years' experience of project management and/or business analysis
  • Experience of working with third party suppliers throughout a complete project lifecycle.
  • Experience of agile and waterfall project methodologies
  • Recognised project management certification preferred
  • Recognised business analysis qualification would be advantageous
