A Production Editor with senior-level editorial and product development experience is required by our client.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic, ultra-organised and creative Production Editor to join the publishing team, based in rural Northamptonshire.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of titles across our Clients publishing list for global markets. Working with the Head of Publishing and the Publishing Team, you will support the Head of Publishing with the creation of the publishing programme, including new product development, as well as managing the publishing list to ensure quality and on time delivery.

This is the perfect position for an experienced editor, looking to develop their editorial and publishing list creation skills, while having a great time working with their friendly team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the Head of Publishing on all tasks relating to the creation of the publishing programme, working to a clear strategy, and supporting our external partners.
  • Support the Head of Publishing in ensuring that all proposed titles meet the business needs and goals of the company, and ultimately help to deliver a profitable programme.
  • Create detailed specification briefs and liaise with Production department to ensure products delivered are of the highest quality.
  • Mentor and instruct other members of the team and help coordinate the books in line with the editorial and creative briefs, making sure all files are coordinated through the correct approval workflow for the team.
  • Ensure the Publishing Team maintain all their schedules and business KPI's
  • Stay up to date on current trends and gaps in the market.
  • Project-manage books in partnership with a publishing partner, making sure key milestones are kept to and final files are supplied on time.
  • Research, write, copy-edit, proofread and sign-off on a wide range of books across a range of formats and novelties, to make the best product possible.
  • Make sure all files are editorially accurate, and created in line with the required quality level during all stages, including final files, plotters and advances.
  • Make sure all titles are produced to house style and fulfil the in-house brief.
  • Liaise and help to coordinate 3rd-party contributors, including packagers, illustrators, authors, licensors and other freelance agents that are needed to create a project.
  • Problem solve and, if required, escalate problems in the correct manner and in good time to allow schedules to be hit.
  • Support members of the team and make sure departmental goals are achieved.
