Operations Director
+70k plus excellent benefits

We have been engaged by our global client to hire their Operations Director. This is a critical role within the company, where you will lead, manage and improve operations and technical activities across the business. You will be responsible for the operational, financial and regulatory objectives, whilst managing global relationships, UKAS stakeholders and leading the Operations team across 4 key areas.

We are looking for someone from a UKAS accredited Certification body who may want to take the next step up or is looking for a new challenge. As this is a pivotal role within the business, the successful person will be collaborative, passionate about the industry with a good sense of humour. You must be able to engage with the team and bring an element of fun, enjoyment, respect, with a focus on growth and excellence.

Key responsibilities:

  • To lead and manage the UK Operations Team - Client Management, Scheduling, Key Account Management, Technical Review and Decision Making. To act as the main leadership figure for back office related activities.
  • To work with the Directors Team to establish organisational strategy and business culture, ensuring its effective execution within the Operations Team
  • Overall delivery of core objectives including (but not exclusively) audit day delivery, auditor utilisation, client retention, decision making output, client experience, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency (incl. contribution margin) and overall EBITDA.
  • Monitoring core processes and achievement of objectives through KPIs and reporting on these systematically to the business, Directors and the Managing Director where appropriate.
  • To instil a culture of excellence and continual improvement. To deliver functional business improvement plans
  • To manage and build an effective operations management team ensuring skills development and effective team working
  • To work to ensure effectiveness relationships and process interfaces between functional departments across the business
  • To manage and oversee relationships and contractual performance of the organisations agreements with its overseas agents and subsidiaries
  • To be responsible for managing the health and safety of staff
  • To act with commercial acumen to identify and (where appropriate) deliver commercial opportunities. To support the product/proposition process working closely with the Commercial Director
  • To ensure that that the UK operations delivers its services in compliance with certification and business regulatory requirements (ISO 17021, GDPR etc.)
  • To identify upcoming changes to regulations and work with the Risk and Accreditation Director to ensure required changes are undertaken

Key Attributes:

  • Experience of leading teams and working at senior management level
  • Exceptional personal integrity
  • Experience of working in a regulated environment, in particular the certification industry in an operational or technical role
  • Managing regulatory requirements of certification and ISO 17021 highly desirable
  • Operations experience at a leadership level in a high volume service environment
  • Ability to build effective relationships; internally, externally and internationally up to senior leadership level
  • Strong organisation skills and high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively convey information to audiences through presentations and other mediums
  • Highly motivated and target driven
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet challenging deadlines through excellent time management skills
  • Ability to use MS office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel & Outlook)
  • Full, clean, valid driving licence.
