Our client is a leading law firm based in the heart of Lancashire with additional offices in London and the North West. They now have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Management Accountant to join them in a newly created role.

Annual fee income is currently running at a rate of £6m but is expected to increase to £10mvery soon, and the business is expected to continue to grow organically and through acquisition. The company is an alternative business structure regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Management Accountant will hold responsibility for:

  • Managing the accounts and payroll functions as a direct reporter with a team of two people
  • Preparing accurate and timely monthly management accounts with commentary
  • Reconciling balance sheet items
  • Analysing revenue and expenditure
  • Creating, implementing, reporting and developing key performance indicators
  • Preparing budgets and forecasts
  • Assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts
  • Maintaining books and records which comply with SRA rules
  • Considering and recommending improvements in IT systems
  • Assisting with the evaluation of potential investment opportunities
  • Introducing meaningful internal controls for systems and processes
  • Carrying out ad hoc duties and projects

To be a success within this role you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Part qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA (or qualified by experience)
  • Confident and approachable with experience of leading a team
  • Professional
  • Good knowledge of current financial reporting requirements
  • Excellent skill levels using Excel spreadsheets and Word documents
  • Experience of Sage accounts packages an advantage but not essential
  • Thorough knowledge of payroll required (experience of Sage Payroll an advantage but not essential)
  • Able to prioritise a challenging workload
  • Able to meet deadlines and target dates without compromising attention to detail
  • Dynamic and self-motivated

A good working knowledge of SRA requirements is not essential but will be an advantage
