Law Costs Draftsperson – Competitive Salary DOE – Southport, Merseyside

The Role

We are looking for an experienced and capable Law Costs Draftsperson to join our established costs firm based in Southport, specialising primarily in catastrophic injury and clinical negligence work. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience drafting Bill of Costs, Replies, and Costs Budgets. This is an opportunity to take on a fresh and exciting challenge with us!

The key responsibilities of a Law Costs Draftsperson include, but are not limited to:

  • Dealing with complex multi-track matters
  • Working on clinical negligence and catastrophic personal injury
  • Preparing Bill of Costs
  • Preparing interim schedules of costs and statements of costs for summary assessment
  • Drafting Points of Dispute and Replies to Points of Dispute
  • Drafting costs budgets
  • Settling Advices and complex and technical costs issues
  • Drafting interim applications within costs proceedings
  • Negotiating bills
  • Ensuring attendance at CCMCs

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Law Costs Draftsperson:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience drafting Bill of Costs, Replies, and Costs Budgets
  • Experience in using mainstream costs software packages
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, able to work to tight deadlines whilst still possessing a keen eye for detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to talk to a range of clients
  • A high level of professionalism at all times, and able to deal with all manner of complex costs issues without supervision
