Department: DILST (Information and Library Services (ILS))

 
 

Reporting to: Knowledge & Information Resources Manager and Information & Research Services Manager

 
 

Main purpose of role: To assist in the provision of ILS services and resources by undertaking business, company and legal research as well as carrying out a range of library & administrative tasks.

 
Direct reports:    0
Indirect reports:  0
 

Budgetary / financial responsibility: Some responsibility for ensuring cost effective acquisition of external sourced materials.

 
Key relationships:

·         Internal: Information Resources & Knowledge Community Manager, Information & Research Services Manager, ILS colleagues, Fee-earners, Trainees, PSLs, BIS, BD, HR, DILST.

·          External: Suppliers.

Key responsibilities:

·         Undertake legal research on behalf of fee-earners using a range of specialist hard copy and online legal information resources;

·         Support the provision of business and sector intelligence including the supply of press articles and company reports;

·         Supply company information and documents using online company information resources, key company information agents and international company registries;

·         Manage events and diary in relation to the ILS Education Programme

·         Assist with the provision and development of the ILS current awareness and horizon scanning services

·         Assist with the updating and development of the ILS intranet pages (SharePoint)

·         Support the effective use and maintenance of a wide range of materials, including acquisitions, cataloguing and catalogue maintenance;

·         Support the library manager with regard to liaising with suppliers, administering subscription renewals, preparing invoices for payment and trouble-shooting subscription and orders related queries.

·         Carry out records management duties including maintaining the library management system, other databases and records;



 
Qualifications
 
Role specific knowledge:
 

Qualifications - Accredited library and information qualification required; Chartered Membership of CILIP (MCLIP) advantageous; Subject specific knowledge or experience in either law or business desirable.

 

Skills/Specialist knowledge/Experience - Competent research skills; Ability to assist users in finding the information they need; Knowledge of a wide range of materials, including books, journals and online resources; Competent IT and information searching skills; Basic cataloguing and classification skills; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work accurately with attention to detail.
