The Company:

A prestigious well established Bank based in the East Midlands is looking to recruit an experienced compliance professional who can lead a team and deliver first class compliance solutions.

The Job:

Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, the Head of Compliance role is a critical appointment to the management team and it carries regulatory (SMF 16) responsibilities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Act as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure that compliance issues/concerns are being appropriately evaluated, investigated and resolved.
  • Ongoing review of all legislative and regulatory developments and provide practical insights and recommendations senior management.
  • Educating staff with respect to compliance with the applicable laws, rules and standards, and acting as a contact point within the Bank for compliance queries from staff members.
  • Act as chair of the Risk & Compliance Forum and represent compliance function at relevant committees including the Group Risk Committee and any external meetings.
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and develop/implement pragmatic corrective action plans.
  • Act as Treating Customers Fairly co-ordinator, take an active role in promoting TCF and Conduct across the Company and oversee that TCF is embedded in the culture.
  • Review and approve financial promotions prior to their issue.
  • Develop and management of the Compliance Monitoring Plan and ensuring it remains up to date and take appropriate steps to improve its effectiveness.
  • Respond to alleged breaches of rules, regulations, policies and procedures and oversee uniform handling of such breaches.
  • Liaising with relevant external bodies, including regulators, Internal Audit and law enforcement authorities.

The Ideal Candidate:

You will be a confident individual to lead the Bank's Compliance team. The successful candidate must have a proven track record of delivering compliance solutions within a highly regulated industry. The ideal candidate would have previously worked in Banking and is able to provide advice and work with the Management Team to comply with regulatory requirements in a pragmatic and proportional manner.
