My client is one of the UK’s leading independent entertainment lighting and rigging providers who now seek an experienced Generic Lighting and Special Effects Technician to join the team.

Primary Responsibilities: 

Smokes:

Prepare, clean and test smoke machines and fans for hire in line with company standards and client’s requirements. These include Cirro CS6, Look Solutions Unique Hazer, MDG The One, Jem AF-1 and Breeza.

Maintain, fault find and repair the machines in accordance with company standards.

PAT test smoke machines and fans so they are within their test period and all relevant certificates can be provided. Generics:

Prepare, clean and test Generic fixtures for hire in line with company standards and client’s requirements. These include molefay, ETC Source 4, Arri Fresnel, Patt 2013, Svoboda and parcans.

Maintain, fault find and repair Generic fixtures in accordance with company standards.

PAT test Generic fixtures so they are within their test period and all relevant certificates can be provided.

Strobes:

Prepare, clean and test smoke machines and fans for hire in line with company standards and client’s requirements. These include Clay Paky Stormy, Martin Atomic and Solaris Flare.

Maintain, fault find and repair Generic fixtures in accordance with company standards.

PAT test smoke machines and fans so they are within their test period and all relevant certificates can be provided.

General:

To comply with the checking in procedure, as well as reporting any damaged units and responding to the four hours and forty-eight-hour emails from Goods In/Out.

Organising and planning work activities to ensure all tasks are completed effectively and efficiently and workloads are shared equally.

Maintain stock levels of spare parts and smoke fluid.

Cross reference plots and patches against prep sheets.

Cut gel and address relevant fixtures as part of the job prep.

Secondary Responsibilities: 

Provide technical support to crew and other visiting production crew.

Conducting stock checks of the department and accurately recording information onto the central database and spread sheets to pre-empt shortages.

Building trust.

Loom / strip and recoil cable.

De-rig stage lighting systems.

Standard Companywide Responsibilities:

Any other duties as required / authorised by your Line Manager / Line Management reporting line.

Comply with all Health and Safety requirements.

Comply with all Policies and Procedures.

Ensuring the work areas are kept in a clean and tidy manner always.

To prep and maintain flight cases in line with company standards.

To load and unload vehicles when required.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience: Essential:

2 years’ experience of working within a stage lighting or similar role.

Able to display positivity under pressure.

Strives to go the extra mile in all tasks undertaken.

High level of both written and verbal communication.

Ability to take ownership and accountability.

Autonomy and the ability to work as part of a team.

Customer focused with a high level of attention to detail.

Adaptable and results orientated.

Ability to work for paid overtime when required (including weekends).

Beneficial:

Good working knowledge of electricity and wiring.

Training / Certification in areas relating to Lighting and Rigging.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
