LOCATION: Pittenweem, Fife
JOB TITLE: General Shop & Office Assistant
SALARY & BENEFITS: Competitive dependent on skills and experience
WORKING HOURS: Full Time – Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm with overtime available when required.  (Occasional Saturday working on a rota basis)

THE COMPANY: Our client is part of a co-operative for fisherman that is located in the traditional fishing village of Pittenweem, Fife where it maintains the infrastructure that supports the local fishing industry. They now seek a reliable General Shop & Office Assistant who has experience in an office admin environment but also in a customer facing / customer service role to join their team. 

THE ROLE: As a General Shop & Office Assistant this will be a wide and varied role where each day could bring different responsibilities depending on business needs at the time. The role will predominantly be a mix of carrying out chandlery & shop duties, but will also require you to work on the Fish Market, as well as carrying out Office and Admin duties, and other support roles as and when needed. You will also be expected to deliver high levels of customer service. Candidates will also receive great hands on training and will learn about the fishing industry, so as long as you have good admin skills and can deliver excellent customer service, then we want to hear from you today. 

THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate for the General Shop & Office Assistant's role must have previous experience dealing with the public and working in a customer facing role, as well as experience working in an office/admin assistant type role. You will need to have good IT and numeracy skills, have excellent communication skills and also be physically fit as this is a hands on role which will require manual handling. Candidates must be able to commute to Pittenweem, Fife for the start time(s). Although previous experience in the Fishing industry would be beneficial it is not essential as great on the job training is provided. Candidates with a Forklift Licence would be desirable but not essential. 

Key Experience/ Characteristics preferred for the General Shop & Office Assistant's role :-

- Experience dealing with the public and working in a customer facing role essential
- Office experience in an admin role essential 
- Must have good numeracy and communication skills
- Must live in or be able to commute to Pittenweem, Fife
- Although previous experience in the Fishing industry would be beneficial it is not essential as great on the job training is provided. Candidates with a Forklift Licence would be desirable but not essential.
