Job description:  Finance Manager / Accounts Team leader

 

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Finance Manager / Accounts Team Leader to lead the Accounts Department and support the directors in the financial management of the Company. The successful candidate will join our existing team who are passionate about continuing to push the business forward.

The Company has seen year on year increases in turnover and utilise a customised Sage 200 system to streamline the accounting processes as well as give immediate, detailed and accurate financial reporting. The new Accounts Manager will be responsible for ensuring the system is kept up to date by auditing the work of the accounts team, reconciling bank accounts and completing end of period audits. They will be driven to ensure their department works cohesively, accurately and the staff within it feel well supported.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Manage and oversee the daily operations of the Accounts Department; including credit control, accounts payable/ receivable and general ledger

·         Make payments to suppliers

·         Complete and process company staff expense claims

·         Lead, train, appraise and mentor the Accounts team

·         Write and implement the departmental development plan: Update the departmental handbook: Participate in the annual Company review.

·         Regularly review the accounts processes to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and in line with the department processes.

·         Audit inputted information, reconcile the Company bank accounts.

·         Liaise with the Directors and Company Accountant to monitor company cash flow, costs and produce management, director and end of period reports.

·         Complete Corporation Tax, EC Sales and VAT returns.

·         Maintain fixed asset records.

·         Run the Company PAYE and Pension Auto-enrolment schemes.

·         Work with the Executive Team to ensure all company financial legal requirements are met

 

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate will be a confident and ambitious individual who is dedicated to achieving excellent standards throughout their work. They will have at least three years experience in an accounts role that has included import/export, multi-currency payments and the leadership of staff. The candidate will have a drive to develop both their financial management and leadership skills and have high expectations of their department.

·         Highly motivated with a diligent, well-organised approach to their workload

·         Have a reflective approach to their work and a desire to implement changes that benefit the company and the processes used within the Accounts department

·         Excellent communication skills

·         Strong intrapersonal skills and the ability to build relationships quickly to support our existing staff and customer/supplier contacts as well as those new to the Company

·         Able to work well under pressure, be adaptable and to manage change

·         Able to competently use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Sage Accounts packages

·         Have AAT Level 3 as a minimum or have completed equivalent accredited training

 

The desirable characteristics and skills are:

·         Experience of using Sage 200 including designing new reports and use of Business Intelligence

·         Experience of using Sage CRM system

·         Able to write training material and deliver training on the accounts systems

·         Experience of submitting VAT returns, EC Sales reports

·         Ability to run Company Payroll and Pension auto-enrolment

·         Experience in producing Management reports, Cash Flow reports and monitoring budgets
