Female Support Worker (Ref: AK2)

Working pattern: 2 x 6 hour day shifts
(Additional hours may be available to cover holidays and sick leave)
Pay: £10.71 per hour
£11.73 Per hour unsocial

Our client provides highly professional, bespoke case management to adults and children with a range of life-changing conditions/injuries.
They pride themselves on delivering a specialist service that recognises the uniqueness of every client; all with very different aspirations and challenges.
They are looking for a warm, patient and reliable individual to support to provide support and facilitate the independence of their client, a young lady who lives in Penarth with her parents and siblings. She has a mild learning disability, spinal injury and is registered as partially sighted. She receives care on a 1:1 basis. At times the client uses her wheelchair however her wishes are to be as independent as possible.
The work is varied and involves the support worker assisting the client to engage in leisure activities, enabling the client to use local amenities such as the leisure centre, cycling, craft and cooking classes as well as supporting the client to attend community events. The support worker will work as part of a small team to provide support and assistance whilst promoting our client’s independence and life skills at every opportunity.
Occasionally there may be times when support is to be given at home. Tasks may include assisting our client to cook as well an encouraging her to keep her own home environment clean and tidy.
Occasionally it may be necessary to work additional hours depending on the client’s planned activities.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain a consistent and proactive approach.
Whilst experience in this area of work is preferred, it is not essential as a full induction and training will be provided.
This role is subject to an Enhanced level DBS check.
N.B. The ability to drive, with use of a car, is essential
