Our client is one of the UK’s largest manufacturers of building materials, supplying the construction industry with specialist plasterboard and associated products.

What the job involves…

They operate within the construction industry and our customers are all trade businesses. Their sales team are split into the following core areas; Builders Merchants, Distributors, Housebuilders, Key and National Accounts. Their Customer Service Team support their internal customers, their Sales Department and their external customers. This exciting role has arisen in the Customer Services Department as a Merchant Agent.

As a Merchant Agent within their busy and fast moving Customer Service Department, you will be the key contact for their merchant sales team. Your role will manage merchant orders, understanding their supply patterns for branches and sites. You will manage all aspects of the customer ordering process from end to end, by processing purchase orders, responding to customer queries and upselling a range of products. Using your keen eye for detail you will ensure all customer accounts are managed effectively.

What they are looking for… 

As a candidate for this role, you will have experience of dealing with several tasks at the same time, ideally gained within a busy customer facing environment. Educated to grade C or above in GCSE Maths and English, an NVQ in Customer Service or similar is desirable as is experience of CRM (customer relationship management) and SAP systems. Good IT skills (Microsoft Word and Excel) coupled with good communication skills and basic analytical skills are prerequisites for the role.
