Description

Potentially there will be 37.5, 30 and 20 hours per week available. The Role of a Call Handler will be to provide basic and accurate assistance over the telephone and put the caller in touch with other service providers as appropriate. The position will require interaction not only with the public but also other professionals. The call centre has a 24-hour function and it is a requirement that any call handlers full time or part time will be available to work weekends/evenings and bank holidays including Christmas Day and Easter in accordance will allocated duties. The Post holder will respond to all calls within the service procedures, answering telephones with a professional manner and being reassuring, accurately logging information onto a database. You will also need to report any missed calls to a Supervisor, use effective communications skills to assess correctly, recognising and dealing efficiently with cases of urgency, providing advice and passing any information to a Supervisor. On a daily basis, you will need to deal with a high number of incoming calls and the general public treating them with dignity and respect at all times. You will need to take charge with highly-emotional, verbally-aggressive or abusive callers, often under the difficult or hostile circumstances, in which you will need to log this and inform your Supervisor. Working as an effective member of a high-performance team, ensuring self-awareness of surrounding environment and events is a MUST. You will also need to cover other positions in the Call Centre, commensurate with training received as and when is required. Maintain confidentiality in relation to personal Data Protection held in accordance with the date protection Act is a MUST. Respond to media enquiries Sitting in front of a visual display screen for long periods of time (This is subject to current Health & Safety regulations) Demonstrate absolute professionalism, integrity and confidentiality for customers/families and all staff Responding to communications from staff for further action and taking appropriate action, including making calls to other professionals To perform other tasks in keeping with the post and commensurate with training this is required by the line manager.
