We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper 30 hours per week for a small niche, forward thinking business based on the outskirts of Milton Keynes but with International ties, to assist in managing day-to-day accounting and finance requirements.

To be successful you will have excellent organisational skills and accuracy and able to work confidentially, as well as good customer relations and the ability to communicate clearly both by telephone and email. The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled multi-tasker and committed to consistently meeting deadlines.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Balance and maintain accurate ledgers
  • Match purchase orders with invoices
  • Transfer of online invoicing to accounts system
  • Reconcile bank deposits and report financial results on a regular basis to management team
  • Monitor office expenses and enter cash receipts
  • Prepare payment schedule of vendor invoices and ensure timely payment
  • Perform month-end account close off and provide financial reports to management accounts team.
  • Provide detailed information on a quarterly basis to management accountants team to ensure prompt production of quarterly P&L and Balance Sheet reports
  • Prepare quarterly and monthly VAT returns for all European VAT territories


Skills & Knowledge:

  • Experience working in accounts payable and receivable, general ledger
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Extensive experience with data entry, record keeping and computer operation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and QuickBooks and experience in Xero would be a benefit
  • Strong understanding of VAT rules and regulations
  • Solid organisational skills, including multitasking and time-management
  • The ability to work under pressure and work accurately while meeting deadlines
  • A confident communicator with a strong attention to detail.
  • Has a 'can do' attitude and willingness to help others as part of a team and carry out a variety of administration tasks
