Audit and Accounts Supervisor Role - ACCA - London

Salary: £46,000 - £47,500 pa

The company

An opportunity to join the audit, accounts and business tax team of this medium sized London firm of chartered accountants.
The firm is young and vibrant, and the management team is considered to be the pool of talent from which partners of the future will be developed. They have recently appointed one of the management team as a partner.
They have an excellent staff retention history that demonstrates that people like working for this practice.

The Role
This will be ideal for a newly or recently qualified ACCA looking to take a step up. The candidate must be used to working in a busy accounting practice and have the ability to
begin to take responsibility for others. An understanding of audit as well as accounting is preferable as is the ability to deliver to deadlines and demanding client requirements.

The role will require the successful candidate to do the following:

Monitor progress and take action to resolve unforeseen issues to ensure effective completion of audit

Ensure all aspects of job completed before handing over

Complete engagements within budget set

Provide an analysis of overruns

Delegate assignments making the best use of the skills and abilities in the team, giving tasks which extend trainees but staying within their skill capability level

Make time to coach trainees to assist in overcoming problem areas

Spot individuals lack of capability which might inhibit efficiency and gives appropriate advice/support to overcome this

Maintain technical excellence through technical updates (reading)

Communicate openly and effectively with staff and clients (written and verbal)

Explain the importance of tasks and priorities

Perform timely and effective staff appraisals

Co-ordinate and prioritise audit work to meet deadlines

Manage tasks while dealing with interruptions and resolving unforeseen issues

Produce a high quality audit file for manager review

Draw to the attention of everyone concerned in an assignment the major issues and judgements

Ensure the firm's professional standards are followed by junior employees

Make suggestions on the way work is performed so as to improve work processes

Unafraid to ask questions when uncertain

Show an interest in clients business; researches and gains understanding of sector

Encourages staff to question the existing ways of doing things, and do so yourself

Maintains a professional attitude and appearance

Successful candidate will recognise the qualities outlines above and be able to meet them

Minimum Required
ACCA qualified
At least 2 years experience working within an accounting practice
Experience of providing an Audit service to clients
