Assistant Accountant (UK&EU) – £29,000 p/a + Benefits – London, UK

The Role

At Affordable Art Fair, we are looking for a motivated Assistant Account for the UK and Europe region to join our close-knit team. Reporting to the Financial Controllers in the UK and Europe, you will take on a host of responsibilities and take on an exciting role as we continue to grow. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a fresh challenge and develop your career with us!

The key responsibilities of an Assistant Accountant include, but are not limited to:

  • Bookkeeping under the direction of the Financial Controllers
  • Maintaining the sales ledger, creating invoices, posting receipts, banking cheques for three UK fairs and five European Fairs per year
  • Maintaining the purchase ledger, generating supplier payment runs, posting payments
  • Taking responsibility for credit control, contacting customers to ensure the prompt payment of sales invoices
  • Disbursing petty cash and performing reconciliations
  • Supporting Financial Controllers with pre and post fair accounting tasks
  • Helping with payroll entries and VAT administration
  • Performing general bookkeeping for Will’s Art Warehouse, our art gallery
  • Dealing with and maintaining the AAF Gift Voucher and Wedding List Scheme
  • Performing other ad hoc duties as they arise, as directed by The Financial Controllers

The Person

The key skills and qualities of an Assistant Accountant:

  • Prior experience in a bookkeeping role

  • Competent using computers; advanced Excel skills are advantageous
