Job description:  Accounts Assistant, AAT Level 1

 

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Accounts Assistant to work with our Accounts Manager to provide an excellent standard of accounts support to the Company and our Business Partners. The successful candidate will join our existing team who are passionate about continuing to push the business forward and ensure high levels of Customer Service.

The Company has seen year on year increases in turnover and has invested in a customised Sage 200 system to streamline the accounting processes. The new Accounts Assistant will be responsible for both Sales and Purchase Ledger activities, ensuring the system is kept up to date and accurate, as well as providing Credit Control support.

Key Responsibilities

Process and maintain Sales Ledger including:

·         Post Customer Invoices

·         Record and allocate multi-currency payments on Sage

·         Post and reconcile Worldpay and PayPal payments

·         Liaise with customers to provide sales ledger support and ensure queries are dealt with in a timely manner

·         Raise and process credit notes

·         Ensure all paperwork filed as per company systems

Credit Control:

·         Report on Aged Debtors

·         Chase outstanding payments

Process and maintain Purchase Ledgers including:

·         Posting supplier invoices

·         Liaising with Suppliers on Purchase Ledger enquiries and to chase missing paperwork

·         Match, check and file supplier invoices, company POs and import documentation

·         Record and allocate payments on Sage

·         Prepare weekly supplier invoice and goods received reports

·         Reconcile supplier Statements against Purchase Ledger

General

·         Responsible for accurate and efficient storage of invoices and other financial information using company CRM, Sage and filing system.

·         Archiving

·         General admin and cover for other departments as required

 

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate will be a confident and ambitious individual who is dedicated to achieving excellent standards throughout their work. They will have at least one years experience in an accounts role that has, ideally, included import/export and multi-currency payments.

·         Highly motivated with a pro-active, diligent, well-organised approach to their workload

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills including a confident telephone manner

·         Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships quickly to effectively support our staff, customers and suppliers

·         Able to work well under pressure, be adaptable and to manage change

·         Work as part as a team & to use own initiative where possible

·         Able to competently use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Sage Accounts packages

 

The desirable characteristics and skills are:

  • Have AAT Level 1 or have completed equivalent professional experience.  (We actively supports staff professional development)

·         Experience of using Sage 200

·         Worked in a multi-currency environment, import/export environment
