Double entry bookkeeper

The Company:

My Clients are a well-established and progressive firm of accountants based in North West London.

Their services include accounting, auditing, tax and financial planning, payroll and business consultancy.

My client's expertise is geared to working with owner-managed businesses, small to medium sized companies, business start-ups and UK subsidiaries of overseas groups.

There are a number of ways they are able to help their customers, they offer specialist services, such as financial outsourcing which can provide valuable support in the day-to-day running of your business. Customers can also capitalise on planning opportunities with the specialist in house tax team.

Whatever the needs of our customers, they will always receive an excellent level of service.

My client has a team of 35 people, including 6 partners, is enthusiastic and highly experienced.

The Role:

My clients are looking to recruit an experienced accountant/bookkeeper, within their Business Services Unit.

Experience of supervising junior team members would be beneficial.

Applicants need to have excellent communication and inter-personal skills.

You need to have a minimum of 5 years accounting experience with a strong understanding of double entry bookkeeping.

Experience of using accounting packages such as Sage and Xero.

Preparing monthly and quarterly VAT returns with good knowledge of tax codes and EC sales lists.

Prepared monthly and quarterly management accounts including the profit and loss account, balance sheet reconciliations and analysed data.

You don't necessarily need to be qualified but you do need to have at least 5 years relevant experience in accounting and bookkeeping and an understanding of double entry bookkeeping.

Your Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will should be professionally presented, proactive, able to work accurately with minimal supervision and with good verbal and written communication skills.

Reporting to the partner, your core responsibilities will include:

Preparing management accounts monthly and quarterly including the profit and loss account, balance sheet reconciliations and analysed data.

Assisting and providing clients with solutions to queries;

Assisting generally within the department

Ability to work individually or as part of a team.

Experience of supervising junior team members would be beneficial.

Confident in working at Clients premises.

Salary commensurate with experience and if applicable, qualification.


A minimum of 5 Years Experience is essential. The experience must be specific relevant accounting experience within a Business Services Unit. A strong understanding of double entry bookkeeping is required.

Experience of supervising junior team members would be beneficial.

You need to have excellent organisational skills and be able to prioritise workloads and have the ability to work under pressure.

Knowledge of software used in the industry would be useful.

Adaptable, personable, courteous and professional.

Must have GCSEs in Maths and English (A-C grade)

Good IT skills including Excel (vlookup, pivot tables etc), Word,Outlook.
