Administration is vital and without it companies would not be able to function. There are a variety of administration jobs out there, but no matter which role you are doing, you will be in high demand and kept busy at all times. There are a number of job titles from clerical assistant to office assistant, however, whatever your title, your made job will be to provide administrative support for an office or department. If you are working in administration then you will have many responsibilities including data entry, typing letters, managing diaries, looking after visitors, answering the phone and providing switchboard cover. If you work in admin then you will be in the office almost all the time and you will need to have fantastic people skills as well as being as efficient as possible. Efficiency may just be the most important part of admin work. You will need to be able to organise your time well whilst dealing with extra requests from your colleagues. Along with your efficiency and general people skills administration jobs will also require you to have good typing skills and computer literacy, along with being a good team worker who can show initiative. You will also be required to have a good level of English, which will include good spelling and grammar and you should also be able to show a great attention to detail. Admin workers are essential and working in administration can be extremely rewarding. You may, at times, feel like an unsung hero as you keep the office organised and running smoothly, often behind the scenes. Most admin jobs have extremely sociable working hours as you will mostly be working full time from 9 to five, Monday to Friday. However, there are plenty of other admin jobs out there with more flexible working hours, including part-time work, flexi-time or even job shares.
