There are an abundance of accountancy jobs from financial accountancy to business advisory and corporate finance. Accounting is the study of how businesses track their income over time and if you were to work in this sector then you would be engaging in a wide variety of activities. Accountants tend to quickly develop an acute understanding of how businesses work. Your responsibilities will include preparing financial statements, recording business transactions and participating in strategies for mergers and acquisitions. You will also be involved in quality management and you will also be dealing a lot with taxation. Accountants spend a lot of time working closely with the day to day running of the business and develop a complete understanding of how businesses make profits. In fact, many successful businesspeople began their careers in accounting jobs. Because things like taxes, audits and bookkeeping always need to be done, accountants seem to always be in short supply. Even in the current economic climate there are lots of jobs out there as people are looking for efficient, well trained accountants. Because accountancy jobs require you to be heavily involved in the organisation of the finances and running of the company they do demand that you have a thorough understanding of financial concepts and will require you to have some formal training in accountancy. Some accountants will be specialised in business finance and others in personal finance and they have the opportunity of working for a company or operating privately. If you are looking into working in accountancy then you will need to be accomplished on a computer as most accountants use a wide variety of programmes and software to keep ledgers and to prepare the different types of forms and financial statements.
